Day Shift starring Snoop Dogg review

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie follows the story of a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.

It sounds like a fun idea, but can J.J. Perry bring it to life?

The opening scene of the movie is a bonkers action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire. It then turns into a crazy fight between them, which is so much fun. I feel like the movie really has fun with this kind of rag-doll physics in its action scenes, making those sequences pop in a way that a lot of the Netflix action movies (or action blockbusters these days) don't.

Day Shift has the quality of a bad movie. It is clear what they were trying and yet they fail so badly. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. It was enjoyable, though. It could be that I am a sucker of vampire movies, or it could just be that I love watching bad movies. Day Shift was fun. It's not a great flick, but it's fun. This is what I really want in a movie.

Day Shift is a mixed movie. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action and some fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible and there are a lot of mediocre characters. It seemed like there were some scenes missing that had been cut. Bud's neighbor acts like they are close friends even though she was only given 3 minutes of screen-time prior to the final scene. This makes the characters who are better than others shine even more. Overall, it is a good movie. However, it (first post) could have been much better.

Snoop Dogg was almost forgotten about. He's amazing in Day Shift. He makes the entire movie worth your time. I mean, his character is hilarious, and he has some great lines. More than that, he is just so naturally in the role. It's almost as if he was meant to do it.
